Subject: Help with IM run plan

I posted this in my blog, but is it too early to start overthinking IMAZ?

15 weeks (plus two taper) I am using a training plan (no coach) but I need to move things around a bit due to scheduling and racing.  I am looking at the following two progressions.

My problems are August.  8/17 I have a 2.5 mile swim race.  Add a 12 mile run, I know, HTFU, but it's a long day (I can always DNS the swim).  Sat 8/23 I have a 1/35/10 tri.  I suppse I could run 4 on SUnday to get 14.  I also noted centuries and other races

And two weeks out.  Is 15 too far?  Should I back down to 10 or so that week?

Any thoughts appreciated

I'm not following the columns...I thought one was date..and was run distance..but date column doesn't go in order..I think I'm missing something...

We all over think stuff...being prepared and comfortable is key...think away...

Sorry, should have been clearer.  The numebrs are miles (extrapolated from my run schedule in time based on my training pace).  first column is one option, second column is second option...... for example, September is the same either way

I looked back and my longest run was 21 about 34 days before IMLP. I did 3 week bike/run taper and kept swim training with a week swim taper. First week was like a rest week, second was to be like a short build week with 13 mile long run and 2 other 5 mile runs and an optional 3 mile run.

I felt pretty crappy so my coach changed week 2 taper to 8 mile run, skip the optional run and the two 5's became 3 miles.

Running fatigues me most of all and I take longer to recover than most. Not sure how it is for you.

For me I'd do 3 week run taper for sure...and if at all fatigued opt for less not more.

Your left column option looks similar to my training with your 20 about 5 weeks out. The 12, 13, and 15 I wonder about.

I know many folks are gifted runners see things differently than I do.

I look back on my HIM last Fall, I tapered short and did extra running only to be tired at starting line. I commented to my husband today my Ironman race seemed much easier than my HIM did. I was probably better trained as I wasn't in a bike wreck this year but key difference I think is I was better tapered.

Am I reading this right: you want to bike a century and run 14 miles on the same day?

How many hours will that take you?

No, as I was reading it I realized I should have stated that the swim is on my long run day, century is the day before......    the whole post is a mess
