Getting ready for IMKY and I was thinking that I wanted to put things like body glide and some chamois cream in various gear bags along the way ... Im wondering if on a hot day in the sun, how well it keeps?

Last year I had Vaseline in my run bag and by the time I got to T2, it was nearly liquid.  I think this year I'm gonna get the kind that comes in a tube.

I remember Bonnie mentioning cold packs that she put in envelopes with her special needs stuff, then put them in the bags.  It was probably food specifically, but you could try with other stuff too!

I would start trying various things now, don't wait until race day.

Body glide will be fine.

I ride in 100+ degree heat for up to 6 hours... and it never melts in my bad pocket. Chamois cream is already like lotion to being with... but it will get even runnier (is that a word?) as the day goes on. Maybe just stick with body glide?

I had a stick of body glide melt a few weeks ago, but it was in the back seat of my car for several 90 degree days, parked in full sun, so the temp in the car was like an oven. Unlikely it will get that hot in your SN bag.

I did the padded manila envelopes w/ the flat blue ice blocks for my extra perpeteum bottles & my shot blox & they were still cold when I got them. No reason not to throw some b.g. inthere too - that will give you a little WHOO when you put it on cold!!!

Yep - it's worked awesome for me in 2 Ironmans

Get the padded mailing envelopes and the soft gel ice packs and freeze them and your stuff the night before then put your cold items in and you'll be good to go.

My bottles were still a bit icey and my Chocolate Covered Cinnamon Bears weren't the slightest bit melty yet.

I got the idea from my friend Katherine (Tinkerbell) who did IMAZ in 2007 when it was super hot.

Awesome idea!  I was mainly thinking about body glide and the chamois cream turning liquid on me, but the idea of cold infinit at SN stops is quite inciting!
