Does anyone know of a good place I can go to get fit for running shoes in Memphis? Prefferably East Memphis being that I live in Jackson, Tn. Thanks.

I think Fleet Feet does a good job: http://fleetfeetsports.wordpress.com/where-to-find-us/
Also Breakaway athletics is good. I think they just closed their store in Germantown and opened in East Memphis, but I don't know where the east Mem store is.

Fleet feet is pretty good. The new Breakaway store is about .25 miles from the Fleet Feet store, so you could try both. Both stores are off of Mendenhall between Poplar and Sanderlin.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll try fleet feet first. By the way I love the quote from Abraham Lincoln. It's very true.

I'd go to Breakaway. The owners are both really good runners and they have a pretty high tech computer program for matching you with the proper type of shoe.

Fleet Feet all the way! Before you look at a single shoe...they get you in a neutral shoe and put you on the treadmill. It has a video camera hooked up to a computer...they record your run and go over it with you frame by frame. Then have you run outside and analyze that too. Then after each shoe you try on...they have you run outside. I went through at least 6-7 pairs of shoes until the guy was happy with what he was seeing. I walked out feeling I got just the right shoe. Super friendly too. Very knowledgeable.

I have to add to my recommendation of Fleet Feet. My wife usually runs in Saucony's, but decided to try some new shoes. She went to Fleet Feet and bought a pair of Asics shoes about 3-4 weeks ago, and has been running 3-4 X/ week with them. Ever since she got them she's been having more trouble with hip pain (prob IT band). She went back to the store and told them she wanted to go back to a Saucony, and they took back her Asics, gave her a pair of Saucony's, and refunded her the difference in price! Customer service lives!

So Fleet Feet or Breakaway. They both sound like good stores I'll have to check them out. Thanks for your help.
