Subject: Lap Pools around Phoenix

Hi all, I am visiting Phoenix for a few days to work. Can anyone point me towards a good pool for doing laps in the general area? I would prefer a 50m pool if possible.

 Many thanks

 Daniel

The only 50m pool I know of is private - Brophy Swim Club. You have to swim with the Masters there, I think. But they are very nice and will probably let you come for the short time you are here. Practice is at 5:30 a.m. to 7, there's a lunch practice, and then an evening one starting at 6 p.m., I think. Search for their web page.

Arizona State University has an awesome pool at the "SRC". I think its $10 for a day pass. It is located in Tempe, on Apache near Miller.

YMCA - Lincoln downtown, indoor pool. Variable lap swim hours - $10 day pass. There are other YMCAs in the area - check out their web site
City of Scottsdale has 2 great pools - El Dorado and Cactus. El Dorado has lap swim 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays, and then has some lap lanes 1 - 8. On teh weekends, the hours are 1 - 6. It's $2.
There's an indoor pool - Kiwanis Pool by the city of Tempe. Again, check it online and call for their lap hours.
LA Fitness is a private gym, but you may be able to get a day pass. Their best pool is in North Phoenix, at Tatum north of Shea Blvd.

There are a few Olympic pools around.  Cactus Pool (Scottsdale) goes Olympic during the winter.

If you are out west, the Goodyear YMCA is 50M

Both Cactus and the SRC at ASU are $7 for drop in master's group. you can check out workout times at www.sundevilmaster.com if you are interested. both are nice pools.
