BOB! Haven't seen you in a while... Of course that's totally my fault (blasted injuries). I'll be there next year though. Weather should be great this weekend.

Folks... These are great events, especially for first timers. 300m swim (in water that's likely pretty warm), flat bike ride on low-traffic roads, and an out-and-back run on even lower-traffic roads. Don't expect a huge carnival atmosphere, but there IS a great post-race spread. No attitudes!

And the kids race is really fun. Parents are allowed to aid in transitions, wading is allowed, and the bike and run are completely contained in the park. My daughter (at age 5) and step daughter (age 9) have done a couple of these, and loved every minute of it.

I looked at this event last week and found that the sign up date was past. Yet I can see that's not the case. Maybe I looked at last years race or something. I've since invited company for the weekend.

my first tri(and so far only) was Elma Father's Day Sprint.  I had a wonderful time and highly recommend it for first-timers.  It has a nice community/family oriented atmosphere.
