Down here in Orlando, I'm not sure if its the same everywhere else. But this morning on my ride  pretty much all I smelled was roadkill just rotting in the sun. It was awful, it cant be good for respiration.

 Just thought I would share.

The turtles and racoons have taken a beating as of late.

It's the worst when the wind is blowing down the road so you get a mile or so of the stench. Crosswinds aren't quite as bad as you can plan to skip a breath.

Monday morning as I was coming back home on my bike ride I nearly rode over a beagle that had been hit by a car in the short time I was out riding...I almost threw up on the bike right there...

I saw a dead gator in a canal the other day, but the canal was far enough away, I couldn't smell it.

Ditto.. one route that I do is in the middle of nowhere and there are grasshoppers all over the side of the road.. then they jump into your wheels and spatter the person riding behind you ..

It could be worse.

It could be < 20 deg. and you could be in the house on the trainer instead of the open road.

OTOH you're down in Fla. so this scenario is highly unlikely.Wink

x3!  On a century ride a couple weeks ago, I started to count them.  I swear I saw on every 5 miles.  I think they must all be depressed and constantly trying to get hit.  I also noticed how much butterflies like the spokes on my tires.  Not pretty.

Road kill doesn't even faze me anymore.  All of my rides involve going past cornfields (read: cow manure) and grazing pastures (read: cow manure).  It isn't the smell anymore, it's the BUGS that swarm around the manure &the roadkill!  Killer!

Every once in a while I'll pass a bloated elk carcass, or a portion thereof.  Not so much lately - they must be higher up to get away from  the heat.  Luckily the smaller critters dehydrate here rather than rot so they're not so smelly.

I am thinking a new pair of boots and wallet.  You left it there? (JK)

It was a tad bit bloated.  I wonder how gator skin cycling shoes would perform? LOL

corn fields...bah.

Try pig farms

There is one we pass on one of my regular routes, to which a buddy of mine always yells out "MMMMMMMM Smell that Raw Bacon!"
