So, I want to make a home made powder for making a sports drink.  I can buy glucose, and maltodextrin at a health food store.  Plus, I can mix in some morton lite salt to get sodium and potasium.  Anyone have any good recipe's for this?  I would like to make a big batch, then take scoops of it to mix with water.  What are good things to use for flavoring?

Search engine says.....

Drink Recipe Thread

I think there might be a few more if you want to search around with different terms, but this one came up on the first try.

I've been thinking about giving this a try too. Come back and post on your results and let us know how it turns out.

I tried this recipe and it was great.  Tasted like a sports drink, and cost about 35 cents for two quarts.  Wanted to get some Maltodextrin, but Whole Foods did not have it.

1/2 cup sugar

3/8 t salt

1/8 t Morton Lite Salt

1 Package lemonade Koolade.

Mixed up the powder.  You end up with a mixture that is 50 calories per Tablespoon.  Full strength would be 1 T per 8 oz of water.  Thus you get 8 servings from this one batch.  I used 24 oz bike water bottles and put in 2 T per bottle.  The liquid got very warm on my bike ride, but it still tasted good.Laughing

The lite salt is about 50% Potasium.  Regular salt is pure sodium.  Most sports drinks have both sodium and potasium in for electrolyte replacement.

For the Koolade, it is just the regular unsweetened Koolade.
