Comments: Early race pace very good (ETF 1:31 after 4mi./ 1:39 after 7.5) Error- Used race day sponsored gel pack and drank gatoraide at multiple aide stations. (Did not train with the sponsor gel packs or drink gatoraide prior to race.) Result- sugars blocked water intake. It hurt. Error-Tripped and tumbled with 20yards to go to finish. Unaware of finish line, started kick very late. What would you do differently?: Be aware of race day weather conditions. Train in race clothing. (i.e. raw nipples from cotton jersey) Use same products I trained with on race day. Be aware of the finish line beforehand. Post race
Warm down: No Warm down outside of walking. Should have went to pool. I did bring post race food and drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: Taking in incorrect race fluids and gel packs. Not being aware of the weather condition (i.e. humidity) Event comments: This is a fast course. The course is very scenic. This is an ideal course for time trialing. It is also a good course for new distance runners. Last updated: 2005-02-06 12:00 AM
