Subject: "I do!" ...Now where do I keep the ring?

I got married about two weeks ago now and just got back from the honeymoon a few days ago.  Now that I'm back to my training schedule I just realized one important detail about this whole being married thing... my ring!

It isn't an issue while I'm biking/running, but swimming is what worries me.  It is fairly tight on my finger but I always feel like it's going to fall off while I'm in the pool or doing an OWS.  So much so that I actually tied it to the inseam of my shorts last time I swam.

So what are my options here?  Do most of you just wear your rings?  Does anyone wrap it in sports tape?  Or do any of you actually take yours off during certain types of training or for a race?

Take it off while racing, it's easier to pick up tri chicks that way.

OK OK, I just tape mine.

Although my wife has given me the look...I do not wear mine. There have been too many incidents almost resulting in finger removal.

My neighbor wears his on a necklace

Any time I'm going to be hitting the water (training or racing) I leave it in the car.

When I went in for surgery, I put it on a nacklace and had my wife wear it around her neck.

Other than that, it's always on my finger.

I did a 3k OWS in cold water last week and put my ring around the strap of my watch. Was secure that way. I think it would be easier not to wear the ring at all though!

I did lose mine in the pool once. Fortunately it was found. Now I leave it in the car or in my transition bag, depending on when I remember to take it off.

There have been a few times when I've realized I was still wearing it when standing in the water waiting for the start. At those times, I just put it on my watch band. Not ideal, but still more secure than on my finger.

I leave them at home.  If I forget, I take a pony tail holder and wrap it around my ring finger a few times so the rings would have to go over that to fall off.  I'm sure you always have a spare pony tail holder on you, right?

I don't wear mine in open water, just put it on the carabeener (sp) with my keys.

I don't wear mine at all for training.  I leave it at home or in the car if I'm going right from work.  They are pretty loose when I swim and I don't think my husband would be happy if I lost them.

Oh yes, the three rings of marriage.

There's the engagement ring.

Then there's the wedding ring.

And finally, the suffering.

Oh wait, you're a newly wed, you won't find out about that for a few years yet.

Congratulations on getting married.  Leave the ring hidden well in the car during swims, but don't forget about it.

On swim days, (usually after work) I leave it home.

I've lost one diamond already.  Insurance companies are always skeptical about jewelery claims. the only sigh of relief they had was that it was only the diamond, (prongs had loosened) that went missing, not the entire ring.

No way am I chancing losing that puppy in a race or a pool, or even biking or running for that matter.

Ring comes on after the shower, at home.

leave it on during biking and running, off for swimming -- too much risk of losing it.

I take it off for OWS and racing.  Husband does the same.  I actually need to get my rings resized because they're getting too big.  I am probably going to get a cheapo silver band to wear during races, etc.--just because I like to play with my ring when I run and I feel weird w/out it!

    Congratulations.

Take it from someone who lost theirs in an OWS, take it off. Leave it at home, leave it in the in the car, tie it to your suit, put it in the strap of your watch, done it all. Don't do any OWS with it or race with it. Better to keep the peace that way.

When I swim I leave it at home. If I forget to leave it at home, I just put it on my watch band. Congrats to you and your new bride
