Subject: Tapering for a sprint tri

Hi all,

My first tri, a women's only sprint - 500m swim, 14.8 mile bike and 5K run -  is exactly one week away.

I have worked up  to 700m swim practices, 15 mile bike ride and 5K runs (running is my least favorite part, although I have run 5K races before). Barring any equipment malfunctions or injuries, I feel confident that I will at least finish. I am far from quick in any leg, am 49 years old and weigh 140 lbs, but have become much fitter (despite losing only 2 lbs the entire training) and stronger through training. I have also managed to get in a few open water swims, two on the actual course.

I am planning a practice mini-tri later today with an open water swim, but then want to taper the rest of the week.

Anyone have some sensible suggestions for a last week training schedule?  I know that tapering means shortening the workout times, but are any shortened brick workouts out of the question?

I also plan on practicing my transitions this week.

Thanks in advance!
