Subject: IMCdA Lodging and travel questions for locals
A friend and I are registered for CdA in 2009. Before I make any reservations of flight plans I was wondering if any locals could give me some direction on Flights and lodging.

I anticipate we would travel into the area early the week of the race. Would we be better off flying into Boise, Spokane or somewhere else? I am interested in cost and ease of getting to and from hotel ect.

Second, Where would be a good place to stay. I'd like to stay close to the venue but if I need to rent a car I will. Will the area sell out or is there ample lodging around?

Any help would be appreciated.

Fly into Spokane. It's about a 40 min trip to CDA.

Check out VBRO for a place. Many are just as cheap as hotels, since the hotels jack their prices up.....

We flew into Seattle because it was cheaper. The drive is not that bad but I'd fly to Spokane if possible. As for lodging, we stayed in a hotel. If I do it again I'll definitely go for the house. The hotels do increase their prices tremendously. Lots of houses are within walking distance to Ironman village. The houses book quickly so I wouldn't wait too long to find one. Good luck with everything. It is an awesome race and beautiful location.

Vacation rental by owner

Lots of houses for rent that week in CDA. Really, it's your best bet. Plus you'll have a kitchen and can eat regular food rather than going out all the time. And there is more room for the family!

If you get a house near the college, which is really close to the venue, there is a kids playground down there....

The Spokane airport is less than a 40 minute drive from CDA.  Seatle is about 5 hours away.  Boise....are you on crack?

As others have said, the CDA hotels are not cheap and most of them require a minimum 5 night stay.  If I did not already live in the area I would rent a house or condo.  If you really want to stay in a hotel and avoid the CDA hotel games then I would look at either Post Falls (10 to 15 min drive), Liberty Lake (15 to 20 min drive), or Spokane (20 to 30 min drive).
