I would like to know what you have tipically before such races on the last dinner and the breakfast before the race in case of early morning race.

Generally I prefer high caloric intake in the dinner and a light breakfast because it would make me feeling light at the start...

Not exactly an option, but heavy breakfast the day before, high carb but overall 'light' dinner (ie, small pasta) and then light breakfast the day of the race.  Been fairly consistent w/the heavy/light/light breakfast/dinner/breakfast routine for all races long or short and have had no issues.

Two nights before a marathon I eat a really big dinner, then try to eat smaller meals the day before. Dinner is usually carbs, carbs and more carbs but lighter and smaller the night before. The morning of, I eat two packets of instant oatmeal 3 hours before and then it's just water, gatorade and gel until the race is over.

Lessee....  Last marathon I had Buffalo wings, some pasta with seafood, and beer.  Breakfast was a bagel and some water.

Normal dinner--nothing too spicy.  Breakfast is higher calorie than usual, but mostly liquid (a couple Ensure Plus for HIM & IM).

I pretty much eat the same as any other day. I don't tend to eat huge meals for dinner and the day before a race is usually pasta of some sort, but I have pasta several days a week. My breakfast is exactly what I have every day - a toasted bagel with honey, a glass of OJ and a few cups of coffee. I've found if I mess with that prior to a long race I get GI problems later on in the race. For me it's best to go with what my system is used to getting.

The day before an IM I eat a big breakfast. Lunch and dinner will be some simple pasta and olive oil, with a little protein at lunch. I'll also snack on fruit throughout the day. No veggies the day before an IM.

I'll have an Ensure before I go to bed. Then race morning will be coffee, chicken noodle soup, bagel, and some fruit. A gel 30 minutes before race start.

Thanks for all the post. I see that most athletes for any tri race are able to eat up to 1hr before the swim start. I am really afraid of eating anything solid after 3 hrs before the swim start. This is something like a myth which my mother communicated me since I was a kid. Today I am still locked to it. I just tried at one HIM to eat a gel entering the water and I had a lot of issues during the bike leg.

I stop then eating 3 hrs before, going on with water only and it seems that most of the books suggest to not do it...
