Subject: IMKY Welcome banquet
Is it a must? What kind of food do they have? Do family members generally come? Long lines? Thanks for any helpful info from veterans of last years race.

I'm going to hang out with the BT peeps and nibble a bit.  Not really planning on the Athlete's dinner to be my big meal of the night.

I found it to be very enjoyable.  Last year the city of Louisville welcomed us and they had several guest speakers and showed some videos.  They had all the first-time IM stand up and it was interesting and comforting to see how many first timers there were.

The food was good and plentiful but nothing to write home about.  The tickets for friends and family is $30 but I figure any place the eat downtown is goona run the $15 - $20 anyway so for an extra $10 they will join me this year....beats them going out to eat by themselves while I'm at the banquet.  I think the welcome banquet is part of the IM experience and should not be missed.
