I was going to lunch out here in Prospect just down from the first water stop. I saw two ladies loading up their bikes. I ask them if they are here for the race they say yes and we start talking tri stuff and her friend tells me she is here to defend her title. I was kind of star struck after that, she was extremely nice. The other girl was Monica Murphy who is a very well known tri girl in the louisville area.

Hate to be dorking out here with all the posts, but I'm pretty excited about the race this weekend and I want everybody to have a great time here in the Ville.

Not sure what she rides but one bike was a tricked out pink Kuota and the otherwas a yellow Scott.

Tim

Cool!  LOL about your "dorking out".  I'm so excited, I'm acting just like a kid at Christmas.  I can't wait to get to Louisville!

She was at a local race in GA once and I spent lots of time snapping pictures of her bike and just plain acting giddy that an athlete of that caliber was participating in a little local tri. I never got to talk with her, but I was still geeked about seeing her bike in transition.

I was out on training ride with gparris the day of the local half-ironman race that she was in this summer.  The half used a lot of the IM Louisville course and Heather Gollnick blew past the both of us like we were standing still still.  When she rode by she shouted out a "hey guys" or something along those lines.  It was all a blur.  Pretty cool encounter though.

Probably it was "Hey guys, move the f*ck over!", but didn't catch the last 4 words due to the Doppler affect.

LOL!  Now that you mention it, there were some other faint words she uttered.

I went down there to catch a glimpse of her that day, it was so hot I was miserable watching everybody being miserable that day. I didn't see her. I did checkout her website and she is sponsored by Quintana Roo. I guess she must have used the other bike Kuota, or Scott for training?

I did the Cardinal Harbour Half, and I parked myself directly across from Heather's bright pink QR! It was fun watching her get ready for the race. She even helped out with the aid stations after she finished. I hope she gets a repeat!

I had a chance to meet her years ago and got her to "autograph" my copy of Chicago Athlete that she was on the cover of.

Then I sold it on e-bay.   Does anyone want to guess the final price?
