Subject: Wetsuit help

Does anyone know of place to get a custom wetsuit made?  Or, a tailor for wetsuits?  I'm in Dallas, TX.

I'm 5'5 and weigh about 150 pounds... all the wetsuits that fit my weight are for people that are at least 5'10... consequently, the wetsuit I bought fits great except that it has about 3 inches of extra material at the bottom.  This is acutally causing extra drag as water gets in...

I'm doing my first Ironman in November and 2.4 miles is going to be a long way to swim with a wetsuit that doesn't fit properly!

 Any advice would be appreciated!

Couldn't you just cut off the extra at the bottom? I've heard of people doing this...as long as it's the bottom of the legs, I think it's okay to trim the length to fit. Cutting arms is a no-no, however...or so I've heard.

If you visit the DeSoto wetsuit site, they have instructions on how to tailor there suit. It might work for yours. Depending on which company you bought, some of them do offer tailoring to some degree to get a good fit. Try contacting them too.

I have seen a company on line that makes custom suits and I can not remember who it was. Botom line was 30 something measurements to make your $700+ custom wetsuit. I am sure that they might have issues making a suit that fast, but you never know.

Good luck with the fit.
