Subject: My first half- The Canadian 113 in Ottawa I just did my first half-iron distance, which is the longest I have ever done, and I just want to thank everyone that was out there today. The volunteers were fantastic (one chased me with vaseline and even offered to put it on me ). All of the spectators cheered you on, even when you didn't know them (which is fantastic because nothing moves me faster than an attractive strange woman ). All of the competitors had nothing but encouraging things to say, so if any of you are on here, thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I told one guy that I didn't care if I ever saw my bike again after the race (this was around the 80km mark ), and he laughed and told me to HTFU, which got me through the last bit.
I have nothing but respect for everyone who does these distances and more. I was so unprepared mentally and I never realized how much of a big part that was of the race. I wanted to cry before the swim start (I had never swam that far before ). All in all, I had a fantastic day, and can't wait to shatter my PR next year. Thanks for all you answers BT |
