Registration is now open for the 113th Boston Marathon.

Registration closed pretty early last year and caught more than a few folks off guard, better to get in early this year and get it done.

Also, the registration fees jump $50 after February 13th. (Moved from March 1st this year)

Who's In?

I am registered

I used my BQ time from the 2007 Tucson Marathon and am looking forward to hanging out with some of the cool kids in Beantown.

Will it close before my wife finishes Chicago on Oct 12?  I expect her to BQ as she missed by 86 seconds last year in Columbus.  That would suck if it filled before she ran a qualifying race.  Unless, I pull the race of my life out in Indianapolis, I'll just be jock-strapping my better half.

Better start getting on the hotel too!

Book your Hotel now if you think your going.

I would suspect that your DW will not have a problem getting in if she BQ's in Chicago. Registration closed early in 2008 this year. Many people who will ultimately run this race have yet to BQ.

Best of luck to both of you

It closed somewhere around January I think this year.

Have fun all!  I'm done with that race ......... twice getting my azz handed to me is enough!

Awe, C'mon Rick, you know you want another bite of the Apple

In reality, no one has the "Big M" wired yet and we are all gonna have good and bad days out there. Just one look at Sell's running shoes from Beijing is confirmation of that.

You are gonna be one cool kid that is noteably absent from Beantown this year if you don't make it...

Hey, I have a question.  I BQ'ed at Boston this year, but want to improve on that time to get a better position, maybe jump up into Wave I.   I am doing CIM in December.  Can I register now and then resubmit a new time or will I have time to wait for the result and then sign up?

I email'ed BAA this question, but never heard back from them.

Thanks

Suzy

Yes!!!!

You can register now, get your slot and update your time later to get a better corral position and also break into the Elite Wave (If you run that fast) as long as it is before the Bib Assignments which won't happen for quite a while yet.

CIM is a great place to improve your time BTW

Thanks for the info.  I signed up this morning.  Now all I need to do is better my time!

If you run a 2:55 or faster Qual time, you can get into the Elite Corral (With a Master's Elite Bib) and get an early start time.  If you don't quite get there, you can still request an Elite Bib as Provisional and they will assign it to you based on a rolldown process if there are any bibs left.

A friend of mine got into the Elite Corral last year with a 2:58 using this process. Just need to make sure you let them know your interested before they assign bibs as this is not an automatic process. (PM Me if you need the contact info)

Best of luck in Sacramento

Why is the difference between Elite and AG only 15 minutes?  The Boston Athletic Association website says BQ for <34m is 3:10 and you say elite is 2:55.  Am I reading that right?

Only 15 minutes?!  I'm in 3:2x shape right now.  I'd love to find 8-10 minutes to get me in!!!

Oh Sorry, the 2:55 standard was for the Women's Elite. (Masters Division)

Male (Masters) is more like 2:35 but 2:40 might get you in as a Provisional

I bet if you run a 2:30, your much more likely to get in. But remember, it is not automatic, you gotta tell them of your intentions so they can add you to the list. There are a scant few elite bibs available and so the faster/sooner the better.

Seems to me that your right "On the Bubble" for running a 3:40:59 or faster. (I peeked at your logs) Not sure what your goal is for MCM but it does seem reasonable in the near future for you

The MCM will be my first and I am hoping to run it under 4:00.
