Subject: IM FL Signup
I am planning on signing up for either IMKY or IMFL. I know I can get a spot right now for IMKY but I would rather do IMFL. If I am planning on signing up online the day after 2008 race, will I get in? I know it fills up quickly. Just wondering if anyone knows how much of a fight it is to sign up online.

Thanks!

Plan on camping out in front of your computer at least 10 minutes before the registration opens online for IMFL. A fast internet connection helps.

Keep hitting the 'reload' button  until the link to Active.com comes up (make sure you have an active.com account *before* you sign up for the IM).

Have your credit card ready and fill out the entry form as fast as you can.

Last year when I signed up for this year's IM, online registration opened up a few minutes early  and sold out within 10.

good luck.

Do you think that LP or FL will have spots open up later like Canada has?

I plan to be stalking the registration online, but I am just curious as to if what has happened with spots becoming available for Canada has happened before.

LP deadline for voucher registration is long past. I think that they have stats they use to figure how many will register after getting vouchers and Canada was for off the norm. I had a voucher for LP but didn't use it. Yet Canada was a first. When someone told me there were more spots a couple days ago I was like what? It makes it all quite confusing and difficult as you have this 1 opportunity for 10 minutes then it is gone.

Last year they opened more community slots in December for various IM races that were closed and most had their community slots were already filled. Our theory was they were unfilled voucher spots.

To MAKE SURE I got a spot for this year's IMFL, I volunteered at last years race.  Volunteers got FIRST DIBS and their own SIGN UP line at on site registration last year.  PLUS, it's just good Karma to volunteer and it gives you  a better understanding of the race....very cool.

I volunteered for two years (rescue diver in the water two years ago during a very cold race...brrr...and then throughout the day last year at a variety of locations)...Last year was the first time they offered the special line for volunteers to sign up for the next year's race and it was fantastic!! I HIGHLY recommend volunteering. It gives you great insight into the race itself and it definitely got me pumped for this year!!

Good luck to you!!! Hope to see you there!!
