Subject: Completed my first TRI

Did my first Tri last Saturday 6th -  it was OLY - one word Exhilirating - finished in 3 hours which was my goal

The swim was my biggest concern, as I was very afraid of water. I could not even get in a lake before this summer forcing myself to train in open water made a huge difference and obviously I overcame my fear

Am hooked on Tri's now and have my sights set on an Ironman next year

All the positive advice on this site really inspired me and is much appreciated

Grats on the Oly finish, solid time.

Stepping to Full IM from Oly is a pretty big step, are you planning on hitting a HIM in the spring to test the waters so to speak?

There is a training plan on BT for Full IM, that has a time commitment of only 10 to 20 ish hours per week. It will be important to get enough rest and not get injured, depending on your current base in all three events. (no logs so can't tell what your base is).

Take care and join in some challenges and mentor groups to help you train smart.

I totally plan on doing at least one HIM this spring - am meeting with a coach to help me train and stay injury free. I realize I have lofty goals, but I have a year. I keep my logs and workout plans on paper, but I am learing my way around this site and may use the on-line logs.

Having your logs on BT lets folks know what your base is and can better answer any questions you have by checking out your last month worth of workouts. It is also cool to look at the graph of vollume to see how many minutes you spent in each of the disciplins and how closely you are following your plan. There are plans here as well including a decent IM plan and a HIM plan. No one does an IM without lofty goals. They are what make us get up in the morning at 5am instead of sleeping in until 8.
