Subject: Calorie counting accuracy on HR
Which device would be more accurate for telling me how many calories I burned, HR monitor or stationary bike? I wear my monitor on the bike and for a 30 minute ride they could be off my 50 calories.

Which is reliable and could it be thrown off by anything?

Thanks

I believe in order to get an accurate calorie count, wieght must be taken into account. Does your stationary bike or your HR monitor ask for your wieght? I have also read that intensity is not the key to figuring out calories spent, but distance. For example you burn the same amount of calories whether you walk a mile or run a mile.

The HR monitor knows my weight, the stationary bike only knows my age.

Thanks for the response
