With this funky weather system it is not looking so good to have a swim this weekend.  There is a potential tropical depression off the coast of the Carolinas right now and weather.com has it with thunderstorms on Sunday.

Could be my second tri in a row turned into a du .......

I'm glad I ended up not signing up at the last minute. Sorry, Rick. I know it sucks having a tri changed to a du .

I am a little more confident the swim will be a go than last week. If not, there will 500 disappointed triathletes.

I don't know ... there is a second storm out in the Atlantic that is getting bigger and while it is supposed to stay out to sea, it still has an affect on the surf.

Still, 500 yards is not much to have to deal with crappy surf.  I really hope they do the swim!  It certainly plays into my strengths NOT to have the swim, but after last week I was really hoping not to have more tris turn into dus.

I was looking forward to my first race with an ocean swim. I was going to do the Myrtle Beach Tri last year but got injured.
At least the weather looks like it should be clear for Sunday.

Yeah. I guess it depends if there are rip currents too...

From what I've been able to dig up from forecasts and a trip to the beach at Henlopen, today saw some 8-foot surf and lots of rip currents. While the weather IS supposed to improve, the surf forecast definitely isn't looking any better for tomorrow.

Bummer. This is my first Tri, and it's likely going to be a Du.

Being that it would also be my first ocean swim, though, I could probably spare myself the trauma of a near-drowning and I'd be OK with that.

Guess we'll see what the morning brings.

I guess it was about 3 when I got there and there were no swimmers in the water...
