About to do my first tri tomorrow morning 8ish, and was wondering what your favorite meals are the day before and when you eat them.  I was figuring that I would have a large meal mainly of grilled chicken and veggies late afternoon today?  Am I close or way off?

For me I like to have my last good size meal at about 5 ish so that everything is good in the morning.  I do like to eat a light meal in the morning about 3 hrs before hand.  The longer the race them ore critical all of this becomes.

My pre-race dinner is always whole-wheat pasta with sauce, and some chicken. I don't recommend you eat whole wheat pasta tonight if you don't normally eat it. If you haven't practiced your pre-race meal the night before your big training days, just eat a normal dinner tonight (i.e., something typical of what you would eat during the week).

FWIW, pretty much starting in Feb or March, I eat my pre-race dinner every Friday night (or Saturday night if my long ride/brick is on Sunday). I also practice my pre-race breakfast the next morning, before my long ride/brick.

But, don't think too much about it. Just eat what's normal for you, and you'll be fine. Good luck tomorrow!!!

Sounds pretty good, just avoid the "gas producing" vegetables.

Thanks for the input, keeping it similar and simple.  And no gas producers is a good call.

you will not go wrong if you do this. and keep the portions "similar" also. i like to have a beer after an early dinner to calm the nerves a bit.
