Yep, pool fear reigns supreme around here.... check out the various links on this site under "swimming" for some tips.
Also check www.trinewbies.com. Some swim lessons are also a good idea.
Keep coming back to the forums and read, read, read.
Lots of good info to digest in here, not only about swimming but all sports.

Welcome!

Hi,

Check this site: http://www.swim.ee/videos/freestyle/free.html
All movies. I think you can say their technique will be a good example as they are the fastest swimmers in the world

Have fun training

Udvozlet és udvozlés shaycahal...(Hello and welcome shaycahal....I hope I said it right!)

Are you lost around the pool because you do not know how to swim or is it mostly because you have never learned the proper swimming techniques? Either way your best bet is to find a swimming team and join up; even if you have no aspirations of ever becoming a swimming prodigy, at least you will learn the proper techniques and training methods. That's what I did twenty years ago; I stuck with the team long enough to pick up some basics and have kept it up ever since.

Hello Shaycahal,Welcome aboard. There's a lot of information on swimming on this site And as others have said swimming seems to be a sore spot for most. I'm working on getting faster. But just remember swimming as a triathlete is different than swimming as a swim racer. You have to have a good time but leave enough energy to bike and run.So don't try to be as fast as those hot shot olympians! They're fast because their races last anywhere from just 30 sec. to about 2 min or even 15 min. But you're race will be at least an hour with the bike and run so save some energy.Learn to swim smarter not harder. That means get your technique down so you can swim a faster pace without losing much energy. Good luck and happy training.Ovetta.
