My first impression is that this Indiana boy is impressed with Boise!  My wife and I are practically empty nesters and I have been looking throughout the country where we would like to live next and possibly for the rest of our lives.

I just got here and Boise has risen to the top so far!  I am looking for any information I can get.  Weather, housing, employment, biking, running, TRIATHLON!.

However, I don't want to clog up this great website with a bunch of stuff that won't benefit a lot of people, so feel free to pm me. Maybe we could talk on a phone or I may be able to fit a coffee in while I am here for Wednesday and Thursday or Friday before I fly out.

Thanks!  Oh, I ran on the Greenbelt tonight and ate at the Pear (sp?) for dinner and talked to a mountain biker.  I like to do that too....and hike...and camp...and kayak....

Boise is awesome! If you love biking it's a great town. It's great for mountain and road biking. I used to live in the North End of town and my husband and I would always just hop on our bikes and go up for a ride in the foothills. Good times.

It's a good time to buy a house! I have lived in many places and ALL over Boise and I love it here. I'm in Nampa now, which a lot of Boiseans would say is the trashy part, but whatevs. My commute from Nampa is only 20-30 minutes. And that's During rush hour! After the DC area I'll take it!

Good luck with everything. There are quite a few of us in the Boise area on here.

Boise is an awesome place. I've been here for a little over 2 years now. If you like having a real winter and a real summer then Boise is the place for you

Thanks for the replies. I have had a great 3 days and met some cool people too!

Met a customer today who is running the Zeitgeist (sp?) and Josh I see you are doing the Boise 70.3.  Good luck.  I thought about coming out for it but June is still early from a bike training standpoint for me to get in condition. We don't get much road time before April.

A fun Olympic distance triathlon can be found in Burley 2.5 hours east of Boise. The Burley Spudman will be on July 25, 2009 - I think. It sells out fast though - 3 minutes is all it took this year. There is also an Olympic distance in Emmet in August that is supposed to be a lot of fun. Plus I think Boise has a Spudman too. Boise is a great city big enough but not too big - we live east of there but travel in every so often for a bite of city life We moved here from Ohio eons ago and couldn't be happier. There is so little humidity you can go outside comfortably all summer. It can get hot though Good luck making your decision!
