Subject: Trying To Have Cake for the First Time-Please Help
Background: Back injury, two years training in the toilet, basically starting from the start.

I am attempting to build a proper base unlike my first kick at the can prior to my injury and surgery.

I am trying to do all of my training at a lower HR and/or RPE. My runs are quite slow at 6:30/km, biking I am at about 25km/hr and swimming I have never had issue with-its little effort for me no matter what.

Should all of training for the next 3 months (what I am deeming my early base phase) be in this area or should I be adding in a tempo run or fartlek once a week / spin ups on the bike / speed sessions in the pool?

I gotta know.

thanks

B

If you are truly doing base, no speedwork
