Subject: BT BLOGGER - LIKE OR DISLIKE??

I'm curious to know what people think of BT Blogger.

I like BT's new look , but I am not sold on BT Blogger .  It just seems a bit too open for my taste.  Maybe I'm anal...but if people want to visit my blog, they can find me via a search, or by the most recent blog updates section.  Obviously, people have had no trouble finding my log (thanks!!) before BT Blogger .  Maybe there could be away to keep blogs open, i.e. not private, yet NOT have them be so revealing on BT Blogger?

My two cents

I agree mate.  Before people found my log with no problem and looked IF they wanted to.  Now it seems a little TOO open.  Definately needs to be changed.

I agree. There are things that I probably would stop putting in my blog if I knew there were going to be, well, out there. It's okay if people actually go to my log and read it, but I'm not so sure about the blogger thing.

I just checked it out, and I actually like it. I can scan down the page and read what's going on with the folks of BT and their training. Before I really didn't click on other people's blogs unless I "knew" them on here. The BT Blogger makes me feel like I know what's going on with the BT community here, and I think I'll be using the "inspire me" more because of it. If I see someone's blog that catches my eye on that page, it's just a quick click to give them a note in their "inspire me." And everyone likes seeing little red #s next to their blogs. :)

For folks that are sensitive about their stuff being on BT Blogger, maybe a check box could be added to our user profiles where we could select if we want our blogs to be eligible to be posted on BT Blogger.

I agree. I might not put so much stuff now that its SO visiable. I kinda wish I could figure out how to keep it private now.

Christie - 2005-02-28 11:38 AM I agree. I might not put so much stuff now that its SO visiable. I kinda wish I could figure out how to keep it private now.

Go to Control Panel and Edit your training log settings. There is an option to make your training log Private.

I was going to say I like the new feature - until I saw my log and me saying I have CRAMPS. Nice.

Making it private means it isn't avaliable to anyone. It should be easy enough to include a similar check box to indicate if you want your blog included in the BT Blogger or not...then people have a choice but can still allow others to see their Blog.

Ha ha ha!! This got moved from the main forum to a new Temporaty Site Update Forum as the first post.

I don't like it for the same reasons as fromer. However, under Ron's thread "Important Stuff for New Features" thread, it does say....

that you have to title your blog....then you get "out" in the BT Blogger. Must be a bug for now. Hopefully it'll be worked out soon

Same feedback as the others...I don't mind the blogger for the voyeurs in the crowd, but if someone wants to keep themselves off the homepage, there should be a checkbox that allows them to be semi-private (if someone knows to find you, they can see your stuff) or private (only you can see your blog).

Otherwise...OK with the blogger.

Adding my vote. Would be a fan of having an option to keep the Log of the Homepage.

Other than that, I love the new look and appreciate the hard work that I know went into it.

It's fixed

So now you won't go auto public when you update if you don't Title your Training Log...

Okay, this might be a bit too complicated (I've been known for creating a Rube Goldberg machine or two...)

What if you could have a default "Blog Me" or "Don't Blog Me" setting, but then be able to make certain days an "Exception"

That way, if you want to be semi-private, you could be that way by default, but if you had an exceptionally good workout or race or something, you could say "Blog This Day" and it would (maybe?) get included in the Blogger?

Likewise, you could normally be "public" but ifyou wanted to log something especially private one day, you could mark it "Don't Blog This" and the Blogger would make that *day* ineligible for posting.

Too complex?

Well kids, I think it's fixed.

I just updated my log--didn't take two days off, fromer--and I did not appear in the BT Blogger.

I'm not much of a show-off. ;-)

I can't say that I want to be public with my blogs or I wouldn't feel as free to write what I want.  There should be a choice whether you want to go on the BT Blogger or not....but still be able to have it totally private or semi private as many people have been doing

As long as you don't give your blog a title it will not show up in the BT Blogger. It will remain semi-private just as before.

Do the blogs with titles have that title showing anywhere in the blog? I see titles on the front blogger page but I can't find any titles listed on individual blog views. Or am I missing it somewhere?

Yes I see where to fill my own title in, if I want one. I was wondering how to see the titles on other people's blogs.

we will add that somewhere to the blogs...currently no title is displayed in the log itself.

I have no problems with the BT Blogger.  It does not matter who is looking or trying to find my blog.  Maybe it will inspire or I will get inspired..

Interesting to find some almost feel vulnerable byt posting to their blog and have others be able to look at it.

I would say keep it..

I thought that if you didn't give your blog a name, it won't appear in the BT Blogger, even if it was set as public.

Maybe Ron can clarify this.

Oops - already been said, I though read the thread properly before opening my big mouth
