Subject: No Clydesdale division for IM florida
So after registering for IMF I can't find where to select clcydesdale.  Got an email from my query, it seems they won't have that division for 2009

Is this division becoming a thing of the past? To me, they seem hard to find. None of my races this year had a Clyde/Athena division.

Not to feed anyone's conspiracy angle, but it seems to me in a time when the economy is down, I would want a higher quantity of races over quantity of divisions.  I am one that has benefited from races that have had a Thunder Thighs, Clyde and SUPER-clyde division, but that being said, that is increase in medals awarded and timing chips tracked.  We may be the first to go...Sad but true.

I'm sure in a race that costs 550 dollars they could have shaaken loose enough for a dozen more plastic trophies.  As far as time chips go I see no added cost, I wear one no matter what division I compete in.

 

What really erks me that most is that they (NAS) hid the fact that they are dropping the division until I was signed up and had my money, and it wouldn't have cost them a cent to do so, they would have sold out anyway without me.

WTC races (IMKY, Kona) don't have them -- from what I can tell they never have.

There has not been a Clyde Div in Kona but there has alway been in the NAS races and the drop it without warning is just wrong.

The division hasn't had any Kona slots for at least the last year, and likely much longer than that, so basically we all race age group anyway.

Before reading this forum I had never even heard of Athena/Clydesdale divisions!  In South Africa it is not done at all, we only have age groups and male/female divisions.
