Subject: IM 70.3 Race Refunds?
I was considering signing up for New Orleans but I am not sure I can make the race date yet. Does anyone know if they give you a refund if you sign up and then end up not doing the race? I looked on the website but I can't find anything

The printed entry form says, in big ol' letters:

NO REFUNDS!

NO TRANSFERS!

NO DEFERRALS!

If you bail early enough..you may be able to get a transfer to the following year. I had to switch to aquabike at Timberman this past year because of a calf injury. I had asked for a transfer to the following year but the RD said I needed to give them a heads up a little earlier...it was only three weeks out from the race.

 

Contact the RD and see  if they have a transfer policy.

we have a refund policy for all of our races, but we do need time. There is a deadline. Honestly, we prefer to send you out a refund than transfer an entry.

I think it really depends on the race and the Race Director.  I would imagine the IM branded races are harder to get out of than the independent races.

Refund/Withdrawal Policy for North America Sports Races

Athletes who withdraw by the applicable date will receive a partial refund of $150 US for full Ironman races and $75 US for Ironman 70.3 races.

There will be NO REFUNDS of any sort, for any reason, after the withdrawal date.

Please notify the North America Sports office by using the withdrawal form below. Refunds for all participants will be by check through the North America Sports office. Entries are not transferable between years nor races. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing of your refund.
Withdrawal requests must be received by the following dates:
Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene: 05/15/2009
Subaru Ironman Canada: 07/15/2009
Ford Ironman Florida: 09/15/2009
Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid: 06/01/2009
Ford Ironman Wisconsin: 07/31/2009
Ironman 70.3 California: 02/15/2009
Ironman 70.3 Florida: 04/01/2009
Ford Ironman Arizona: 10/01/2008 WITHDRAWAL CLOSED

There will be NO refunds after these dates.
