Does anyone know how much the Cervelo Dual weighs? I picked one up today and it felt like about 10 lbs. What about the Trek Equinox series? Picked one of those up too and it felt a lot heavier, about the same as my cyclocross bike.

I'm looking for the best bang for my buck, I'm planning on doing a 1/2 IM in May and I think my cross bike won't be very good for this. Hopefully I can unload that and get a tri bike in time to do this.

I am leaning towards the Dual, it's a good price, good components, and not to mention hot. But I might be able to get a killer deal on an equinox 7 or a specialized. Also, any opinions on Felt bikes?

10 lbs., I think not. I believe the UCI limit is around 15 or so LBS., which means bikes cannot be weigh less than that amount and be "legally" ridden. Did the shop not have a scale, many do so that you can see. I own two bikes a 16 year old Klein Quantum which weighs in at about 22 lbs., very light for its day. And a Cervelo P3, which comes in at a couple of ounces over 18 lbs. including pedals. I also looked at the dual, I would guess something around the 17-19 lbs. range for that bike. As far as the Trek Equinox, I looked at that bike and would guess it to be similar to the P3, but I didn't actually weigh it. Don't know about Felts but I think the frames look cool.

I'll weigh my new 56 cm Equinox 9 for you when I get it home today. My guess is about 21 lbs.

I was being sarcastic about the 10 lbs by the way, but it did feel extremely light.

The weight depends on the size of the bike.  I did pick one up a few weeks ago, a 54, and it felt like a feather compared to my alumininum Eclipse a 58, which weighs about 20 pounds-probably more with the aero bar and bottle mounts..

What about any opinions on whether or not a cyclocross bike can be ridden (at least somewhat comertably) for a 1/2 IM? Anyone ever tried it?

edit: I have road tires that I plan to use.
