Subject: From car guy to tri guy?

Hi,

I have always enjoyed competition and things involving speed.  I am an avid basketball player and also enjoy running.  I did my first 25k this past spring, and although I was sore for weeks I loved every minute of it.  I will begin training to do the same run again next year, and also think I want to add a triathlon to the mix.

My other hobby is cars.  Turbo mitsubishis to be specific.  I currently have a '76 Colt that I am building, but I doubt many of you care too much about that :-p.

Anywho, I will be picking up my first road bike in a couple days and thought now would be a good time to register.  I will probably throw it up in one of the other forums to get some thoughts on it and possibly upgrades.

Ben

From one semi-reformed car guy to another (still have a Mustang habit), triathletes that are in shock about how much this hobby costs have no idea...

Cars are a whole 'nother realm.

What little advice I have to offer is read lots. This forum has a lot to offer and will put you very far ahead for your initial season compared to those folks that go in blind. Good luck!

My brother does MiniStock.

I like to say that he builds and races cars, but I build and race me. Cool

Who says you can't be both?

I've always owned sports cars, but have had a special affection for Corvettes ever since I first saw a new '63 split window Sting Ray coupe in a dealer's showroom when I was 10 years old.

My previous Vette was a '90 Z51 coupe with a Lingenfelter 382.  Did most of my own wrenching on that car.  It was red, which is where I got my screen name.  Sold it earlier this year to buy my Millennium Yellow 2000 C5 convertible (with only 30K miles on it).

Welcome to BT.  Lots of friendly, helpful people here.

Mark

I'm a car guy and a tri guy (read my blog...)  I do tris, and I do time trials with NASA (driving fast on a race track)  No reason why you can't do both.  Other than financial, that is...

I am a car guy as well.  Currently own a '96 Miata with FMII turbo kit and a Acura Integra GSR with a Full-Race Stage 1 turbo kit.  Can't stay away from the boost (hence the forum name).  The family car is a MB C230KS, the wife drives that as we like to call it the slow car.  Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Good to see some other gearheads on here.  Both my girlfriend and my wallet are happy that I am taking a break from building my car to focus on something else.
