I agree...it is way too soon to worry about an accurate weather report. I will tell you that we just had lots of rain today and a heck of a thunder/lightning/hail storms this evening. I was trying to figure out about where I would be on the run as the hail was coming down...

The local news showed crappy weather until friday then it clearing on saturday. Also does anyone with more knowledge than me know if they can control the river flow enough to drop the water level down so the greenbelt isn't flooded in parts like it is now?

Saw this on youtube. I assume the run is along here. If so, looks very pretty with lots of shade.

Hmm.. after posting this link it worked once but doesn't now. maybe a server thing. Its a 5 minute view of the greenbelt

That's a small section of the course, but the course will be very shaded and the river is so high right now that there it cools off the path right next to it.

i am so glad that the run will be mostly shady! that is one of the hardest things, is to get to the run and have it be totally sunny, 80+ degrees. . it just kills you!  hopefully the temp will be abaout 70 all of race day

Assuming decent weather and all the run will definitely be very nice for everyone. Theres usually a small breeze off the river that brings very cool air onto the path and 90% of the run is in the shade and the run course is very flat, so you really can't ask for a nicer run course.

I can't make the dinner...would rather do my own pre-race thing but might meet some of you out and about there this weekend

Someone mentioned there is somewhere else to swim since we aren't allowed at Lucky Peak - was it the LP State Park just on the other side of the dam? It's definitely OK to hop in in a wetsuit and swim around there, yes? I have to do a short brick on Friday morning. Looked at an aerial shot of the area - it was kind of funny that the "beach" is this little tiny thing under the dam LOL

The park is below the dam...turn right just before going up the highway to the dam, but after the park before the dam, which is a totally seperate park from the one with the pond!! You do have to pay $4 to park because it is a state park. If I'm right, this park was a fluke after the dam was built...water seeping under, I assume, created this pond so they hauled in some rocky sand and actually made a nice family friendly place to picinic and swim. The water is always cold, coming from the bottom of the lake, but it is very comfortable in a wet suit.
I swam in the lake this morning. The water temp was perfect, guessing around 60, and smooth as butter...not a wave in site. Man, that would be so awesome for race day.......Tom

I swam up there tonight and I second the temp. It was a small shock to the face/hands/feet at first but after that it was perfect.

I swam too. I'm a real wuss when it comes to cold water, but with a polar cap and an Orca S1 I was very, very comfortable.

Yup, it's official, I've gone MAD, stark raving mad I tell ya!!!  I vary somewhere between totally hyper, to that vague I think I'm going to puke feeling.

Yeah, I fly out tomorrow.  and yes, all packed and ready to roll.  just going to pick up my baby tonight at the bike store.

If this is only going to intensify by saturday, I might just keel over from heart failure.  Ai yai yai!!!!

You're not alone. I'm keeping busy with work and as many other things as possible to distract myself but it's going to get harder and harder as Saturday approaches! Have a safe trip! We start the drive tomorrow night & arrive on Thursday.
