thanks for the heads up! not bad @ all. You are gonna do the same elevation anways, so why not do it on some smoother road. I remember that stretch of pavement, and I think it ate my tire on my last training ride on that road. I guess making the extra turns will be the only thing slowing you down. Ill take it!
We're all riding and running the same course. Me, on the other hand will be swimming an entirely different route unless I get my sighting under control

Are ya crooked Rob? Do you breathe bilaterally??

Actually I swim rather straight - I was just trying to be self-deprecating.  I'll switch it up...I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me.

LMAO!!
Yes Rob.....we like you just fine!

Anyone know the date of the 2010 race?

It's not one of those races that sell out within hours, right?

Race will be Aug 21-22, 2010. It'll be the 10th anniversary for the race, and we expect to make a big deal of that. I'm guessing it'll sell out in 2-3 weeks or so.....

Saying water is up to 74.  Warm, with some more hot days in the forecast.

You know the race is getting close when you're about to see race day in the 10 day forecast!

♦As long as it doesn't make it above the magic 78Degrees where I can't wear my wetsuit, I don't care. As a ROCK in the water, I need all the help I can get.

If the water temp is 74 right now, I think we are fine and will not hit that 78 degrees. For a body of water that size to raise its temp 4 degrees, we would need some serious heat over the next 10 days, day and night heat. Personally, I would like a non-wetsuit race but thats just me.

X2

a cool, cloudy day would be perfect!!!!
Getting excited, did some of my last 'hard' workouts this week.  Now to think through nutrition, practice changing a tire, and getting packed to leave Ohio for NH on Tuesday.

My kids are actually doing a local triathlon here in Ohio this Sunday.  my 18yo son is doing OLY and 15yo daughter is doing the sprint.  It will be nice to watch them race, because my husband and I are usually racing in the same triathlons they are doing and don't get to see them race.

Oh man....that weather would be great.

=============
Anyone know if you have to pre-buy tix to the Saturday night carbo-load dinner? I havent yet, and I may be out of luck. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to be eating while camping.

=============
Second, I really havent sorted out my taper for this week. Did a very slow, with many breaks, social ride this am of 60 miles. Was gonna do an easy 8-10 mile run tomorrow, and maybe a light swim.

But for the rest of the week, I really havent laid it out. Figure maybe one 10k and one 5k, some swimming, and maybe hop on bike one last time for an hour.

What's everyone else doing this week?

==============
To repeat....that weather would be great!
***EDIT*** weather.com now has 74/57, with 60% chance precipitation. Oh well, at least I wont overheat!

ok I think the carbo load dinner is included with entry.

So I clicked on the details for the weather for next sunday - which in the 10 day still say hi of 74, showers and 60% precipitation - but when you click and look at details for aug 23, sunny, 89 degrees and 0% precip.
I would rather the first weather!!!!

so it being New England  - WHO KNOWS!!!! hot, hot and humid, rainy, cool all possible.

Anyone camping in Gunstock that wants to have a big marshmellow roast Friday night? Just found out my campsite at Gunstock will not allow fires. Thankfully I have a small stove. Reserved my spot to late. Kind of bummed because it is my daughter's first time camping. Probably take her out again later fall for some better weather. How are the bugs up there right now?

I'm not sure about the bugs but I got a bunch of bug repellant spray just in case.

I'm camping in Gunstock as well. I honestly have no idea if I can have a fire at my site. I reserved it quite a while ago but I don't know if that means anything or not.  If I am allowed you're more than welcome to do the marshmellow thing at my site. I'm going to the Friday night dinner though.

I will be there on Sunday for the 70.3 as a volunteer.  I asked for transition area, finish line area and cleanup/breakdown volunteer duties.  Look for the guy with lotsa tattoos, a shaved head, and be sure and say HI.  I'll be there pretty early, no later than 5 AM.  Good luck to all the racers!

Hey Max, haven't seen you around a lot lately.

Oh, I told the Devil's Hill devil that you still wanted her to marry you. She remembered you

I'll have to say howdy at T-Man.

I'd volunteer to bike 80 or 90 and then run...I really don't feel like running more than 13

There are really bright lights of a very short duration and then loud noise. There is some to a lot of rain, sometimes to the point that you cannot see the lines of the road around you. Generally lots of really dark clouds too
