Hello. I'm an overweight junior high coach in Amarillo, TX (well, just north, in Dumas). I'm currently losing weight so I can reach my ultimate goal of competing in a tri in about a year (maybe less depending on how much weight I lose, I'm trying to lose about 50).

Yea! Another West Texan! Okay, so I've been transplanted to East Texas, but I grew up in Abilene and went to college in Lubbock. I ran high school cross country and track so we occasionally had to venture up to Amarillo for meets. Welcome to the site and let me know if I can be of any help. The Amarillo Club is putting on a sprint this year on April 16th. I know you may not be ready for it this year, but something to keep in mind for next year since it's so close. Not too many other tri's in the area. There are a few in Lubbock out at Buffalo springs too.

I went to Tech for 3 semesters from 97-98 and still remain a huge fan. Thanks for replying.

Way to take charge..  Keep at it.  From experience

I can you that it takes discipline and will power to make the necessary changes in your eating habits.  I would recommend seeing a nutritionist in order to get the most out of your training.

Good Luck..

Are you a TT fan?  I have a bunch of relatives in the Lubbock area.  I have not been there in a few years.

I was 260 and got down to 210 as of right now...
