Hey all..
It's me again.. hehe..

I am thinking about joining a Masters Program and was wondering if anyone here ever went to any meets with their masters program.

I used to swim on a team when I was younger and I think I'd like to get back into that competition.

Do you swim competitively with your masters program??

Will

Oh yes! They are so much fun! Most are pretty small and low-key, but there are larger regional and national meets available.

I do 2-3 meets per year with my masters team. With that said this is only my second year.

I think I just did freestyle events in my first meet, but I did free, back and IM in the last meet that I went in (Dec. 2004). Also the relay events are a lot of fun.

I never swam competitively as a kid, so I can't compare it with the masters meets. For the masters meets all age groups swim together and you are seeded according to the time that you entered with. The slowest heats go first. The longer distance events, 400m, 800m, 1500m (not at every meet), seem to be the least popular.

I hope that helps. Have fun.

Just started swimming at Halloween, but I've swum a Master's meet. I'm already looking forward to focusing on swim meets next winter!
