Subject: Looking for training plan advice

Ok, so next season will be my first with an HIM (8/16).  plus, I've never done an Oly but feel that I should be able to do one no problem, and next year has my first Oly distance as well (7/11).  So my question is regarding the training plans on this site.

So would it be better to do the Oly plan and then the end of an HIM plan or just use an HIM from the beginning?  If your choice is an HIM plan, would you suggest the Oly to HIM bridge or the basic HIM plan? Thanks for the help.

Hi Dave,

You'll see that some of the intermediate Oly plans have similar training volume to the beginner HIM plans. You could do very well with using one of the more challenging Oly plans, then using the HIM bridge.

However, with the timing of the Oly so close to the HIM, and the HIM plans being more specific to HIM, I would personally consider doing the HIM plan from the outset (20 weeks out). Even the beginner one contains 7-10 hours/week training, and that's pretty considerable.

What kind of training or plan are you planning to do until the start of the plan you choose? That's just as important, in order to build a good base for the upcoming season.
