The new course looks great! I'm definitely going to find as many hills in MI as I can!

Do you have any specific info on camping? We're probably going to have about 10 or so people!

We camped along the race route last year and it was great. Hope we can do it again this year, great for the kids if they get tired of watching.

We will send out an eblast to all registered athletes with camping info and instructions. I am working with the park on how many campsites we can have. They will go quickly. This years race will be capped at 1500...we will probably sell out in April-ish.

I would be interested in riding the course when it warms up if anybody else is interested. Wouldn't mind riding it the first couple of times with some locals if there are any takers.

I rode the course 2x last year before the race and CAN NOT stress how much it helped me. Bike is my weak link, so knowing where the hills were (ha) and being able to practice MY nutrition plan on the actual course made THE difference for me.

Ryan's group put on a "training day" last year that was supported with an aid station on the bike course and an optional swim (BRRR it was cold that day, only a few brave souls got in) and of course the run course was open as well. It was awesome and I really hope they do something similar this year...

The 2nd time I went (on my own with Tom), I got to experience the effects of riding 56 miles in the Kansas heat (it was 2 weeks before the race). I got heat rash and my face swelled up - it was crazy. But also a good thing to experience; I learned how my body reacts to that, and was able to plan accordingly.

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking a practice ride some weekend in May. The Kansas City Tri is May 31, which I was planning on doing as a practice tri before IMKS, but maybe a few weeks before that. Keep me posted if ya'll plan a ride - I'm only 2 hours away from the race site.

Lisa, we will probably do something again since the course has changed...probably won't advertise it on the website though...last years' 150+ ppl that showed up to train caught the Sheriff's Dept a little off guard!! It was pretty funny...the Sheriff called me and said "is the race going on...did I miss the race?" They had gotten calls in of "hundreds" of cyclists on the roads...

If you or any other BT'ers plan on coming up...just send me a PM and I will try and hook you up with some locals. We have a group here that ride the course pretty much every weekend in the riding months. I also live about 3 minutes from the course and always have a garage-fridge stocked with gatorade and powerbars

Hopefully I will get myself back in shape so I can go out and ride with you guys this spring...

The entire run course is on asphalt. It is pancake flat with one 1/4 mile steady hill that will be ran on each lap (2).

After the bike, I'm going to need a flat run. Not many big hills in SE Nebraska, just some nice easy rollers. I'm afraid those Kansas hills are going to kick my butt.

Awesome! Asphault is better than gravel

Now if only winter would end, I could start getting really excited to race!

Anybody set any goals for this years race. Mine right now is to just finish. Haven't really thought of any specific time goals. What times are everybody looking for?

Haven't thought too much about it as far as specifics go.  I am anxious to get out and ride and run the new courses to get a feel for them.

Personally I would like to break 5 hours . . . but we will see.

Haven't thought about a goal for this year yet, other than finishing that is.  Probably shoot for somewhere in the 5:30 range, we'll see how training goes.

Would love to camp again, but not sure. Might have quite the cheering section coming down and since it is my inlaws camper, they might be using it. As long as we can get one spot so we can have a "base of operations" close to the race site I will be happy.

    99% sure I'm camping.
I'm all about saving the hundreds of $$$ from a hotel room. Plus I will be on-site so won't have to fight traffic in the morning (less stress!). Plus-Plus, I never sleep well the night before a race anyway... I'd rather pay a lot less for my sleepless night.

My only dillema is where to get COFFEE?!??
