Howdy all! I'm new to the sport and new to the webpage. My brother and I decided to jump in into triathlon together as a way to help each other get in shape. We trained sporadically during the winter and just completed our first sprint distance Tri down in Uvalde Texas this weekend, had a blast, and are now hooked. He bested me by two minutes so he currently gets to carry the bragging rights. The tri was a 200m swim, 16 mile bike, 2 mile run, and then another 200m swim. I think they split up the swim because it was a pool swim and the pool was only 4 lanes wide. Anyway, thanks for being here! I look forward to checking in from every once in a while.

I plan on taking back those bragging rights in the middle of April. We are going to do one more sprint distance Tri in April and then an Olympic distance in July.

By the way, Ron, it looks like you kind of take care of this place. Thanks!

refreshing.... like tying lead weights to my legs and dragging them around the pool, and praying for my legs not to cramp up. :-)

welcome to the site -

they do a reverse triathlon out in Levelland - run, bike, swim . . . not sure if showers before entering the pool are required!

train hard!

Welcome to the site, I am new to the site as well, and agree Ron it looks like you run the show thanks for all of the goo insite..that also goes to all of you who add your 2 cents.
As far as your gear, for your first TRI, I would not go over board by spending a bunch of cash on stuff you don't need. Can always improvise in some cases.
Welcome to the sport and beware of the TRI BUG--it hooks us all. As most of us can attest to, it got me about three years ago and my Spring-Summer-Fall are focused on training and racing.
Train smart :-O
