Subject: Raleigh riding group for BT

I am looking to get a riding group together for Raleigh area for Saturday morning rides, I would like to get enough people together to get 2 groups going (faster and slower) so no one would get dropped. Also maybe we could have enough to do shorter and longer distances... We would ride out toward the country so we do not have to deal with city traffic, road bike or tribike riders welcome. we could meet every week or once a month.

We could find a meeting spot out by the airport (like Briercreek area) and ride back toward Falls lake area.

I am doing the White Lake half, so we could do intermediate or longer distances as well as doing shorter rides also.

Would like this to be social to get bters or friends of bters together for some riding and to offer tips to newbies who are scared to ride with rodies or LBS people.

reply here or send a im if interested.

I would be interested in Saturday morning rides.

I live in Kernersville still but work in Durham and come to the Raleigh area on a semi-frequent basis.

I'm still a newbie so the shorter and slower group would be for me ... but I'm wanting to progress ... I've done 2 sprints last year but have signed up for the Augusta 70.3 HIM and so really need to work on my biking.

We can do it, we will figure some things out over the next week or so and set some stuff up for when it warms up a little...

Glad to have you

I would love to get in on some group rides. I live inside the beltline so I am pretty central to most area's.

I am definitely interested!  I am a newbie on the bike as well so that slower group is where I belong for sure.  I live inside the beltline... but I am open to traveling a short distance

I'm interested. I live the other way, but could do it some. Also, I've been riding a while, but I'm still slow so I don't mind helping the newbies. We'll probably have more luck organizing once the weather warms.

HI

I would be interested in group riding, I live near Brier Creek.I'm new to tri training and would be slow but I'm thinking riding in a group of people that have experience will help me to become a better cyclist. So please let me know..

thanks

I dabble in a few different groups already, but am always willing to meet and ride with new folks.  Means I can sit on the back longer, right?

I have a small core group of 4-5 that ride out of Apex when it's above 40F outside.  Great roads, minimal traffic, good meeting locations.  I would probably not be interested in starting anywhere near Brier Creek, but if anyone wants to hook up out SW Wake County way, keep me in the loop.  Nuthouse and I have ridden several times together, and we also do the Tuesday/Thursday InsideOut Sports rides.  Until late March, I will be run-focused on the weekends.

I second the APEX/Power Plant/Duke Half area....great roads....Significantly less traffic.  I'd leave the north raleigh rides for early morning shorter rides.  There's definitely some good terrain out there...I'm just not a fan of the traffic up that way....

Oooh, keep me posted too.  I've been MIA for over almost two years but I'm doing IM Augusta 70.3 in September so I gotta get my butt back on the bike!

Back when I was doing 100+ mile rides on the weekend, I would start in the Brier Creek area (where I live) and head out through Cary/Apex/etc. to S. Jordan Lake area (like Pea Ridge Road and Beaver Creek Road) and/or hit Big Woods.  Also did a long ride from Brier Creek out to Benson and back (long and hot--ugh).  Going South tends to be lest congested than going North towards Falls Lake though I have done a good long loop going up to Creedmoor and around.

Definately safer to go in a group--especially when you get far out.  Sometimes you run into a$$hole drivers who can pose a danger, but even with the normal breakdown or equipment failure, it's good to have company/help!

If you are looking for some other group rides, check your local bike store.  I know Trek has some good rides once it warms up and Raleigh Gyros has a lot of local routes posted on their web site.  Me and my wife are both training and would be interested in some group riding, just let  us know.  We ride out around the Falls lake area pretty often so it would be familiar.

Look at trianglecycling.com

They have rides, cue sheets, etc...  Slow Spokes also lists there (no rider drop policy).

I would love to get in on a group ride if there is a group slow enough - I do in the 15mph range for my long rides.

I'm doing the Riverwood Course once or twice Saturday if anyone wants to go. I'm thinking meet in the school parking lot at the front of Riverwood around 1pm. I'm not fast and won't let anyone drop alone.

I'm putting another post under Riverwood.
