Plissken74 - 2009-01-29 2:18 AM Finally, considering what has been said here and in another thread, I went for Shimano 11-28 cassette dura ace from 7900 and keeping the 53-39 for now. It should be the cheaper solution...

Make sure you update this on how the 11-28 works for you, thinking about that setup myself.

And keep an eye on your chain stretch and how taught the rear derailleur gets.  If you already had a 25 or 26, then you should be okay.  But if you are going from a 21 or 23 to a 28, your chain may be a hair short in some of the extreme cases.

I will go tomorrow morning and the LBS told me he had to change the chain 100% because I go from 23 cog.

With 20% discount I pay cassette 7900 plus dura ace chain 420CHF which is more or less 350$. I think in US you get much better prices but it is definetely cheaper than a full new compact crankset!

Yeah, a Dura Ace cassette ain't cheap!  The SRAM's are better priced, but not by much.

Enjoy!

Are you mixing the 7900 chain and cassette with 7800 derailleur's? Please update us on how well it works. Shimano claims they aren't compatible, but that doesn't mean they won't work.
