I would think the answer would depend on the event. Short sprint events ~vs~ long distance events. So I would say, spikes for sprints and trainer for longer distances.

Unless you are doing really long distances on the track (5k plus), go with spikes. I wore them up to distances of 2 miles. As far as differences, well they are lighter and have better traction (helpful on turns and that last sprint).

However, if you have biomechanical issues, you may want to stick with trainers, as spikes have absolutely no support, and very little cushion. There's a reason they call them flats!

Tough to put a number on it. My guess would be in the 5-10 second range. We aren't talking minutes or anything.

Didn't we go over this once before? I would wear spikes for a 1500m. They are faster than flats for this distance.

Did you race recently? How did you do?

What do you mean exactly by a time trial? Are you going to be running alone?

Please report back to us after the trial. Have you raced this distance often? How is your running coming along?

i have only raced this a couple of times before. Last time was about 2 years ago at a school athletics competition against other schools. I got a 4.56 then and i should have gotten faster within the space of two years.

My running has improved. Ive started going down the track on tuesdays now. I had a fun run last weekend and i came 1st in my age group and 3rd out of  709 competitors. (The people who beat me were 21 and 18, im 16)

Definitely spikes for a 1500. They're much lighter than trainers and the spikes keep your feet from slipping outwards as you run the turns.
