runnergirl - 2009-09-24 9:39 AM Do any of ya'll maybe want to get together for a BT group swim on Sat or hit up the expo and grab lunch or something??  Let me know.  I think it would be fun for a lot of us to meet.  Then we'll be able to look for each other on the race course and cheer each other along since we'll know who is who

Lunch sounds good.

Not really tapering for Augusta. The only thing I did was cut my 6 hour Saturday ride to 5 last weekend. I had a normal training week this week with the exception of cutting out one 5 mile run on Wednesday. Obviously I won't do a huge day this Saturday but other than that, training as normal and will be back on the normal training plan Monday. Like you said, gotta get those heavy weeks and long days in.

Just two more heavy weeks after this weekend. So I am guessing you're thinking the way I am. That we'll get our recovery when taper for FL arrives.

mcoleman - 2009-09-24 12:29 PM Does anyone know the current water temperature?

Probably low 70's like it always is.

I just got back from the gym and I talked to a guy there who said that they are supposed to do a pretty large release from the dam Sat night   So that means the current should be pretty strong

I just drove by the TA area and they have the racks set up!  The weed machine is still cruising around on the water pulling weeds around the marina at the swim start.  There are a lot of jailbirds out in white outfits mowing and weed eating at the marina and along the beginning of the bike course.

What time were you thinking of swimming; First thing like all the other Saturdays? Harvey, Phatknot, will be meeting me at my house at 10 AM and we are heading over to the expo around 11 or so.

It would be great to pick a central location and meet all the BT folks. We could meet at the Fleet Feet booth since Jim,
run4yrlif, will be working it (in more ways than one). What would be a good time? 1 PM? Transition will not open until 2 PM for bike storage.
Or somewhere else a little later? I would love get all you drunk, so you are hungover, and I have a better chance at posting some faster splits Sunday. ha

It's not on the gravel section where you can park- it's past that a little farther down.  It will be a nice little run to T1, unless they have us exit the water farther down somehow to add distance??  Anyways, I did a see a small section of carpet or two in the TA.  I'll swing back by there after work to get a better look at everything.  I'm now obsessed with all of it

I know the Broad Street Ramble 10K starts downtown on Sat at 8:15am.  Not sure if the roads will be closed or not and how tricky it will be to meet to swim.  Does anyone else know the logistics of the Ramble and if the roads downtown will be closed for it or not?

Edited:  Nevermind. I just noticed that the 10K stays on Broad Street so we can get around on Reynold's Street to swim.  What time do ya'll want to meet to swim?  Like 8:30 or 9am or is that too late? I figred that would give everyone time to shower off before the expo if they wanted to.  Ya know- just to get all the poo and e coli off

Yes sir!!  Only question- are we going to be able to park near the TA if everything is set up?  Surely with that road being so long we'll be able to park somewhere?

Crap, I was planning to do a short pool swim Saturday morning but now you all are talking about swimming in the river.  I am curious if the swim start will be blocked off. I guess you could swim upstream and back down.  You'll appreciate the current more if you do that.

Is the plan to swim the course in reverse? Or just meet at T1 and walk up to the start? Because...um...I'm not really interested in swimming upstream.

Good point. We may need to park at the first picnic area before the Rowing Club building and then walk up to the start. We can enter at the boat ramp at the 5th street bridge rather than worrying about open gates etc. This will keep the yardage down for us Master Clydes, huh Phatknot?

We can probably all try to pile into a few cars to ride up from the TA to the swim start together- we usually do that anyways on our regular morning swims.  We can try to park in the first section before the boat house.  After the swim we can coordinate getting back to our cars that were left at the swim start.  Starting from the slimy boat ramp will definitely cut off some distance and it will be a nice short swim for us

For anyone staying in the host hotel you can probably just walk to the 5th street marina from the hotel and not even drive.  Then you can hitch a ride back from the swim finish to your hotel

I will probably bring a BT sign or something so we can recognize another.  I'm assuming there will be a lot of others swimming in the river that morning as well.

Pretty much every other race I've been in, I've gotten maybe one email before the race with updates of race details (but they've all been sprints except one oly).

With this race I'm getting monthly emails and now 2 phone calls. Is this normal for the longer races? It's pretty impressive how much they're communicating.

It's pretty impressive how much they're communicating.

I think it is great communication especially since the company delivering the calls is the company I work for .  I wish I could get a feed from the Ironman Live Athlete tracking site and I could have it call family and friends with updates throughout the race.  VERY last minute but if anyone knows anyone that works with the live athlete tracking site I could very possibly get something running before race day that would call and report your status.
