Subject: Advice on ladies swim goggles

Can anyone offer some suggestions on swim goggles?

I don't have much experience with swim goggles, just buy whatever looks like it will fit from the sports store.  The goggles usually end up embedded in my face by the end of my swim.  Painful, and after a lunch swim...well those in the office who don't know what I'm doing usually look at me a little funny because the goggle marks just won't go away!!

I think I must have a wider face for a woman, and don't want to go to the larger face-mask type goggles.

 Any insight welcome!!

I like Women's Speedo Vanquisher and the Speedo Hydrospex. I would recommend the Hydrospex if you have a wide face. Right now they are on clearance at swimoutlet.com.

my tip for you is the next time you are at the store, take them out of the packet and stick them to your face w/out the straps. the ones that stick the best with no strap will fit the best, with the notion being that if they fit rather well w/out the strap, you don't have to yank the strap so tight to keep the water out.

that is a tip i got from the lady a the swim store back home and it works. i still get marks on my face, but not as bad and they only take ages now to go away 'cuz i am old.

The above is a great tip.

As for raccoon eyes - the older i get, the worse they get and the longer they last. I was worried about permantent bags under my eyes...so I finally bought a pair of the Aquasphere Mask type googles. Got the XP one, as it's a little smaller and I tend to need a smaller google. They work great!

Women's Speedo Vanquishers have worked well for me, too.

Swimoutet.com had them on sale for $10 a few weeks ago.

Women's Speedo vanquishers make it look like I lost a bad fight and they leak half way through my set.

Aquasphere's don't fit my face and leak like crazy, and give my eye's big hickies.

I have to where kid's goggles, by TYR, but they still make me look beat up.

How do I get ride of the bruises under my eyes? I have the strap as loose as possible, but I still have red/purple lines that sometimes last till the next day.

The reason I knew I needed kids goggles was because I did what the above poster wrote- put them on my face at the store without the strap. They don't leak at all!

I must have spent about a year trying to find goggles that fit properly and didn't give me terrible rings around my eyes.  After about 15 different pairs, I finally had success with the Tyr Femme Petite.  They don't leak at all and best of all, no more goggle marks.  For me, they were heaven sent.  The only downside is that the fog resistant coating wears off fairly quickly, especially when tossed in a gym bag.  See if they fit in the store first though...

I am in love with my TYR Socket Rockets. I can't wear any other kind anymore. I love, love, love them. It takes several swims to get them adjusted so they fit "just right" but once they do, no problems. They have an adjustable nose strap along with the adjustable head straps.

My favorite is the Aquashere Seal XPT women's mask. I have had it about 3 weeks and I no longer have goggle eyes. I LOVE IT!! They also seal great too. I have a small head and have always had to wear kids or women's goggles. I have about 4 pair of Speedo Vanquishers that work great as far as sealing but I have goggle eyes all day long after wearing them. I was beginning to worry about permanent goggle eyes too!

I know the OP said she didn't want to go with a swim mask, but I have to agree with some of the others here...that switching to a mask-type goggle was the only way to get rid of the goggle marks for me. I find the fit and seal on a mask, to be far superior to any regular goggle I've ever worn. JMO

I like the Speedo G C G goggles - they're shaped like the Vanquisher, but have a foam socket instead of rubber.  Much easier on the face.

I got the Aquasphere stuff for OWS, but hate them.  Can't get them to seal properly.  I only wear Speedo Junior Hydrospex.  They're comfortable, and cheap.
