Subject: Best Valentine's Day gift/card you received?

So I take my two boys (8 and 6) to the local Hallmark to pick out cards for their mom.  Well, the youngest informs me, to my delight, that he's picked me to be his valentine this year, not Mom.

So he wants to pick me out a card, but I told him I wanted him to do that on his own, to keep it kind of a secret.  Since he knows how to read, I told him to just look at the cards that said "Dad" on the tab behind them.

Well, as the oldest and I are in another section picking out something for Mom, the youngest comes over, just beaming from ear to ear.

"I want to show you the card I picked out!!"  I just can't say no when he's in that kind of mood, so I take the card and flip it over to read it.

It starts,  To the man I love . . .

I start laughing . . . but he looks and me and says, "What?!?  You ARE the man I love!"

Um, yeah, those things can make a Dad get teary-eyed.

So my wife had him sign and date it, so that ten years from now, when he's just being a real , I can pull the card out and exclaim, "Don't you remember when I was the man you loved!!?!?"

My wife got me one that had a picture of a bed and said "will you be my valentine". On the inside it just said "I put out"

My fiance got me two cards.  The first one --
Outside: "Roses are red, you have a big heart, but not as big..."
Inside: "...or as loud as you fart."

That one was totally appropriate as training is ramping up and well, you know.  The second one was sweet and nice.  And he wrote on the inside "this means that I love you twice as much."  The first one was my favorite though.

Fresh, homemade heart-shaped cookies dusted with cinnamon sugar.

Lovely notions notwithstanding, they were the best doggone cookies I've ever had. They were pretty much gone before he had a chance to say, "Here's your Valentin---"

Wow, now that's a nice gift!  But I think we're supposed to call it flowers.

My sweet roommate who is getting married and moving out in March bought me a small box of chocolates My mom always sends me a little V-Day package, but I haven't gotten it yet. I think it will contain a gift card to a local running store!

CARD two women having coffee,

front.

W1: "So, what do you think you'll get for Valentine's Day?"

W2: "Probably flowers, AGAIN."

W1:"What's wrong with flowers?"

W2:  "Well, everytime Bob gets me flowers he has expectations. I just don't want to spend the next three days on my back with my legs in the air."

open card,

W1: "What, don't you have a vase?"

*this card was given to me by a dear female friend...I guffawed in rare form.*  :D

She moved in the first week August, but had accepted the room in mid-July. Two weeks after she accepted the room, her boyfriend proposed - pretty much unexpected too. But we were fine with it.

The medical illustration students here at MCG, every year creatre v-day cards and sell them as a fundraiser for charity. They are nerdy and medical. And, therefore, awesome.

My favorite is the one I gave Amy this year:

(picture of crudely-drawn skeleton

"There are 206 bones in the human body. You give me 207."

This year, my girlfriend was going to give me a cool sheet metal 'picture' of mt. hood. . but the farmers market we were going to go to in order to get it is closed for another month   so instead i got a piece of salmon, wrapped in prosciutto, with some kind of lentil salad for dinner, and the whole time she cooked, i got to sit on the couch, drink wine, and surf BT!

oh, and of course, pizza!
