Master 1759 Peoria, AZ (Near Lake Pleasant) | Subject: RE: 30 Day Nutrition Challenge Adam0778 - 2009-03-03 1:42 PM Does anyone know of a good web site that I can find the nutritional value for resturaunts? Specifically, I am looking for Joes Crab Shack. I got a wrapp from there and I think it's healthy, but want to know for sure and make my log as accurate as I can. It's really good, so I am hoping its not really bad. |

The only thing I can find is three of their sauces which are evidently null, and some fattening shrimp. John |

Under the "salads" section - Hooters Cobb Salad (Bacon, cheese, crunchy fried chicken, tomatoes, eggs corn on this cobb) It disturbs me to no end that you know this from a visual scan... John |

Veteran 277 | Subject: RE: 30 Day Nutrition Challenge Men are pathetic. My husband HATES to pick up a phone too so I understand. I did it for you. They do not have nutritional info on their web site or menus but the manager said this is what your wrap had in it: 12 in Spinach Tortilla, 2 beer battered Tilapia fillets (3-4 oz each), 1 oz avocado ranch dressing (mostly ranch), 2 oz black bean/corn relish (this has a little salad oil in it), 2 oz lettuce. Did you happen to eat the 5 oz of fries that came on the plate? So, if this is what you had don't eat anything for tomorrow and you should be good. My eating day was really bad. B: apple, 1/2 banana, tangerine, 2 cups milk 1/2 oz protein powder (this was planned and good) B2: gigantic sized muffin (costco sized) L: too stuffed to eat but knew I needed something protein so I had 2 oz chicken, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 slice cracked wheat bread S: 3" square of layer cake. OMG, what the hell happened. After eating like that I am going to miss my planned a 8 mile hill ride because I worked another long day and am just now leaving work. I will hop on the stationary though while I watch either Bachelor or Biggest Loser. I will go log all the crap I ate later. |

I did not eat the fries that came with it, and I had them hold the Dressing. Not a big fan of ranch dressing. There is the essential problem. Something is portrayed to be "good for you" and it sucks! Thanks so much crafty for looking into that. I tried to make good decisions and I get tricked. Those b@stards! |

Master 1882 Chandler, Arizona | Subject: RE: 30 Day Nutrition Challenge Question:
I'm not part of this challenge but I need to start logging my food. I know what I should and should not be eating. I have a problem with knowing how much I need to eat given my daily activities, including workouts. I am using fitday.com to log all the food I stuff into my pie hole. I've entered my "life style" in as seated work with some movement since I spend most of my days in class. I walk from my parking garage but all my classes are in the same building. Fitday.com says that I should be eating nearly 3,000 calories a day just to maintain my weight. That doesn't factor in any workouts. I'm going to eat 500 calories less then what is recomended but even with the amount of s.b.r and lifting that I'll be doing fitday.com is gonna tell me that I need to eat close to 3,000 calories or more a day just to loose a pound a week. I want to go from a soft 180 to a lean 170. I know that not eating enough can hamper weight loss but this just sounds like too much to be eating for weight loss. So, my long winded question is: Have those of you who have been following the calorie recommendations at http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm noticed results in loosing weight in combination with your workouts? I feel like I could benefit from a metabolic test but I'd like to figure this out on my own for free. |

I was STUCK at a weight for a long time and was told EAT MORE and VOILA I broke through that plateau! I'll leave those who are using that site to answer whether or not it is working. But in the meantime I will go check those numbers with my bodpod numbers (not a metabolic test but a relatively good estimate of my RMR based on bodyfat and lean muscle mass). Tanya - you have had a REAL RMR right? Do your numbers match the freedieting site numbers? |

Thanks Jen! Let me know how they compare either here in the thread or shoot me a PM. I am planning on doing some testing at HIT. Some combination of VO2max/bod-pod/RMR. I'm not sure which yet but I'd like to have an idea of the direction that I should be heading in for training and nutrition. I guess for now I'll follow what some of these sites recommend and see what happens over a couple of weeks. |

The one that it defaults to is Mifflin-St. Jeor (Not really familiar with that one), and it comes out with 105 calorie difference. That's about 12 lbs a year difference from the harris benedict (The one I used on my site). Wonder why and which one is more accurate? (Lean mass equation for 10% bf and my stats adds another 120+ calories. John |

Veteran 277 | Subject: RE: 30 Day Nutrition Challenge Well, as bad as it is I logged in all of my food. My BMR is 1397. I burned about 164 on my 18 minute ride so if I was trying to maintain I only ate 476 more than I should have. Jeez. I need to get this under control. I have not been tracking. I need to get back to my weight watchers. I wasn't sure how many calories I needed to eat and how to use my exercise but thanks to you guys I have some tools. I'm curious to see what the Protein/Carb/Fat breakdown will be fore a typical 20 point day for me. I will eat my 20 points tomorrow and see how that goes. Here's my plan. I'm more likely to follow it if I tell people: B: 6 oz juice (1.5), 1/2 banana (.5), 140g frozen fruit (1), 1/2 oz protein powder (1) TOTAL 4 L: 2 oz chicken (2), 1/2 Cup cottage cheese (2), bread (1), salad (0), olive oil (1) TOTAL 6 S: 1 T walnuts (1), 1 cup ff plain yogurt (2) 1/2T honey (.5) TOTAL 3.5 D: 3 oz salmon (3.5), 1 cup potatoe (2), green beans (0), salad (0), olive oil (1) TOTAL 6.5 DAILY TOTAL: 20 points |

Elite 3602 Mesa, AZ | Subject: RE: 30 Day Nutrition Challenge I have to say that site looks pretty good! I know that the bodpod is not a perfect estimate of RMR but taking into account lean muscle mass and body fat is a pretty good predictor and the calorie estimates I have from that are very close to the Mifflin St.Jeor estimate. Freedieting.com Maintenance: 1980 Calories/day Fat Loss: 1584 Calories/day Extreme Fat Loss: 1188 Calories/day BodPod estimates Sedentary 1569 Low Active 1923 Active 2201 Very active 2619 The sedentary and low active match the maintenance and fat loss pretty closely. I love the macronutrient calculator on that site too!!! Crafty - LOOKS good! However it doesn't seem like much food for an active day. An inactive day it would be perfect! (IMHO) |

(IMHO) Excuse in advance for the long winded reply but this challenge has really opened my eyes. I agree that my 20 point day doesn't seem like much food but actually I can be filled on it. I find if I don't eat lots of processed food I stay a lot more full. Imagine that.... Since I joined the challenge I have been tracking what goes in my mouth but not following my WW points. I just averaged out how many calories I have been eating each day since we started the challenge and it is 1729. Jeez. Perhaps that is why I seem to be maintaining my weight. Ya think! Using the website you guys gave earlier my BMR is 1397. I looked up my S/B/R activities and the level that I do them burns about 563 if I did them for an hour and most days I don't workout for an hour (hmm another reason why I'm maintaining perhaps). 1397 + 300 (more reality of what I burn) - 500 (to lose 1 lb a week) =1197. Interestingly enough I plugged in my 20 point day I was planning for today and here it is 1208 calories/16.13% fat/54.35% carbs/29.52% protein. This was an eye opener. Guess it's back to my 1200 calories not 1700 and perhaps I'll start seeing some results on the scale. I'm going to be kicking my exercise up as someone put a bug in my ear about the Tour of the Tucson mountain and I think I have decided to do it. I'm scared though if I can (other thread). So I'll add food accordingly to account for my increased activity because I know I can plateau if I'm not eating enough. But I've been eating like I'm riding 40 miles a day when I'm not Thanks for putting the challenge out there and keeping track of everyone. |

We are thinking of going to Rubios for dinner. I better look them up and find something healthy. I made the same mistake there once before like Adam made with the wrap yesterday. Thought I was getting something healthy then went home and found out it was 13 points. |
