The store I went to only had regular biking shoes.  Are those okay to use?

If you have wide feet, I'd say "no". Cycling shoes tend to be narrow to begin with, so I would think that trying to cram a wide foot into a regular cycling shoe is just setting yourself up for a lot of pain and discomfort. I would seriously look into the Sidi Mega, as was suggested by another poster.

I am a pretty big fella' and I have wide feet as well.  I wear a 13D normal shoe.  I found a pair of road shoes at my LBS that are freakin' awesome.  I LOVE the way they fit.  And even better, the strap adjusts to make the foot wider or more slender.  They were originally $200, but I got them for $99 on a big sale.

You will love these!

I have Shimano road and mountain bike shoes that come in wide...I wear men's wides as they fit better as they are wider than women's shoes.

Highly recommend the Sidi Mega, I wear a size 50 and have a wide foot. I initially balked at the price and bought a regular width shoe. After mile 20 my feet ached, and when I got off the bike my feet were killing me. The wider Mega was a nice switch.

I agree with the folks recommending Sidi Mega's. I wear a US 10.5 EEE regular dress shoe and bought my new Mega's last week.  They feel like a pair of slippers and are definitely more comfortable than some of the other regular, narrow pairs I tried on.  They are a little pricy, but definitely worth the money.  Go to your local cycling shop and try everything on.  It's worth the time.
