Subject: Mountain bike lights
I am looking for a new bike light for my mountain bike. I will be doing a 24 hour mtn bike race and I need to purchase a new light. I had a light before but it was very cheap and not to reliable. I do not want to spend too much, is it possible to find a descent light for under 100 dollars? Thanks
Mitch

I have Nite Rider Trail rats. I use 2 as a bar and hemet mount paired. They're only good for 2-3 hours, and don't broadcast tons of light. If you're a team rider, 3 batteries would certainly cover the night laps you'd do. That being said, they're inexpensive (when you get the coupon deals), modular and do the job as often as I night ride (infrequently).

Lots of people like Lite-N-Motion LED's. HID are serious $$$, but are super quality.

24 hour races are fun; I've done 2. Think about borrowing from friends who aren't racing. You'll need to be ready with the mounts, but a helmet or bike change might suffice. You also are required to have a rear blinky for most 24hr races.
