Subject: Being a Triathlete, Ain't Cheap or Easy Good lord! All the gadgets. I got into training for my 1st Tri because a friend said he was doing one, not sure if he still is, but I had no idea the expenses to be had. Not that you need everything available to be successful, but I can see how people get so excited about the 'red' bike or whatever next investment they make to be better at this sport. This is what I owned at the end of December: 3 pair swim trunks 1 stationary bike 2 pair running shoes (never used for it's intended use) What I own now in addition to the other stuff: 1 PolarA5 watch 1 pair Tri short 1 pair biker shorts 1 pair of cycling shoes (hope to use this weekend for the first time) 1 pair of pedals to fit said cycling shoes 1 LA Fitness membership 1 Total Immersion book 1 Chi Running book 2 pair swim goggles 2 borrowed mountain bikes I look forward to Polar625x, endless pools, Lemond Spinner dillio, my own Tri bike, a wet suit, a better body. You are all an inspiration. Have great weekend. I will be appearing in Carrolton, GA April 30 as a bootleg triathlete. |
