Subject: My demon slayed...then forced a second time...cycling I live in a valley. Valleys are formed by two ridges running side by side with a series of hilltops. Yes, every ride, other than the valley floor is a hills ride. I've always avoided the hills to the north of my home and take on the ones to the south. My demon has been the local "mountain" (I'm sure those in Appalachia, Colorado, or other mountain areas would scoff , but I digress). I decided today to ride my nemesis and conquer it. The mountain is close to home, so I was fresh. I attacked the mountain, and I made it to the top, success!! I continued on my ride, and later made a navigational error. Instead of going around the mountain on my way home, my mistake was going to take me over it again...this time on 2 hour fatigued legs. All I can say is I love my granny gear. I ate the mountain up at 4-6 mph and just kept on thinking how nice those roads in Florida are going to feel. One demon slayed...now I need to go find a bigger mountain.
