Subject: New to BT, not new to tri's

Hey y'all!

My name is Brian and I live down in Lakeland, FL. I know a few people on here, and I figured it was time I should get involved. I have been doing tri's for just over a year now, but I have been running for 5 years, when I decided to lose weight. Used to be 280, but now Im 194 (as of this morning).

I am a veteran of 5 marathons, 7 halves, an HIM, and various smaller distance races. I ride a 2007 Trek 5000 and I decked it out in Orange and Blue! Go Gators!

I have frequented other forums in the past: coolrunning, kickrunners, lurked at slowtwitch. Hell I even met my wife on one of them!

So I think that's me in a nutshell. Any questions?

Sorry for the late reply...

Here's a link to my latest race photo on the bike. This is about the best view I have of it. I'd take one right now, cept it's in my trunk packed for a ride.

Man - great job losing all that weight and becoming a fanatical athlete.

Nice bike colors too!

Its funny that your intro  was at the top of the list when I was on the main forum page, otherwise I probably never would have seen it! WHen I saw the name snooze..I mean really how many people out there use that.

Ah yes! How goes it? Do you spend more time in here over the other forums these days? I have kinda come here for info but never hit the forums. I have a few friends in town in here, so I figured I'd come in. Plus, I don't have time to play in the others so I can't keep up and get bored by the content. Oh well. Leaves me more time to train, right?

 Whatcha aiming for this year?

Im doing  my first marathon 5/3 (NJ cause its flat!)...have an oly and sprint and then going back to Timberman to do the whole thing this time!  I never really joined kick..just lurk on rare occasion. I hang out here more than chrunners nowadays.  A friend of mine told me about this place and I liked the way it was set up especially the logs and plus the ability to meet/be in contact with people that do tris and not just running was a bonus (not that ch has ANYTHING to do with running!). I can go to local road races and know quite a few people but with tris Ive generally been on my own. Being on my own has a certain bordom factor to it.

How about you guys any big races this year? you going back to Timberman.. going for broke and doing an IM?

No Timberman this year. Costs too much to travel up there and ship the bike and all that jazz. I am, however, going the distance. I am signed up for the Great Floridian, as well as an HIM a month before on the same course. I am actually pretty psyched about it all. Although my legs are a tad tired considering today is the official first day of my training plan. Thank God I start out on a rest day. :D

Welcome to BT!  We have a great community and (usually) get along really well.

Only on a tri forum would someone ask to see pictures of a bike ..... most places it would be pictures of the wife!

I'm new to this site as well.  I also ride a 2007 Trek 5000...not decked out in Gator colors though.  Blue (Kentucky Wildcats!!!).  I will be down in Florida in a couple of weeks for the South Beach Tri.  My first one.
