Subject: Listening to Music during the Run
I know that during the Bike, the rules explicitly say that you cannot wear headphones. And during the swim it is nearly impossible.
But what about during the run? Do the rules allow for this? How many people do you usually see listening to music during the run? Do any elites do it? Why would or wouldn't you listen to music?

USA Triathlon Rules:

3.4 Race Conduct.

All participants in USA Triathlon sanctioned events must adhere to the Rules in this Section 3.4:

i. Unauthorized Accessories. No participant shall, at any time during the event, use or wear a hard cast, headset, radio or any other item deemed dangerous by the Head Referee. Any violation of this Section shall result in a variable time penalty.

I saw a couple of people in my last tri wearing them on the run. I think they knew there might be a problem because they had the wire tucked in their shirt, and out near the neck, and only in one ear. I only saw it when they passed me.

(well, either they were music headphones, a cell headphone, or they were part of a FBI security force protecting someone on the run).
